Got gel nails, the tech used what was labeled 'gel powder'; then applied gel polish . that isnt real gel nails?

Did she put your hands under a little light that ';baked'; them?Got gel nails, the tech used what was labeled 'gel powder'; then applied gel polish . that isnt real gel nails?
i'm not sdure of the spelling --- you got bamboozled!

don't go back there

';gel'; is a particular material requiring UV light to cross-link the polymer. it's preceded by specific nail preparation and use of a ';bonding agent'; that also requires UV light for a ';cure';.

';real'; gel has a natural glossy look and it won't ever yellow or seems to stain the way acrylics do.

when you need a ';fill'; go to a DIFFERENT salon and ask for a gel fill.

acrylic can be tough on your nails. gel is like a super strong base-coat of polish that can actually help your nails grow better and stronger

gel doesn't require the use of ANY powder at all. when you see powder, it's acrylic.

if you want to see the story on these things go to http://www.ibdbeauty.com/ because they sell both basic types, gel and acrylic.Got gel nails, the tech used what was labeled 'gel powder'; then applied gel polish . that isnt real gel nails?
I've had the nail techs do this also using the gel powder and your nails do not go under a uv light. The nails do look really good but from what I understand this is not as good as the liquid gel that goes under the uv light. I'm not sure what the difference is other than the application. I have heard that the liquid gel is healthier for your nails.
