Which is better acrylic or gel I want to get my natural nails done with a top coat heavier then nail polish!?

I was just at the nail salon this weekend and had that exact question. The lady said that the gel was better for people that are sensitive to chemicals. And she said that they do not use the drill tool thing for the gel nails like they do for the acrylics. I suggest getting the gels done, but I do know they cost a bit more.

Good Luck!Which is better acrylic or gel I want to get my natural nails done with a top coat heavier then nail polish!?
well u can definatly get a silk wrap if u want to keep ur natural nails and if u want to get them to be stronger but gel is good too personally i like my nails silk wrapped.Which is better acrylic or gel I want to get my natural nails done with a top coat heavier then nail polish!?
I don't use either. I use something called glaze. It is like a really thin acrylic, but your nails don't get beat up nearly as bad. I looks more natural, too.
i prefer acrylic. they last longer and in my opinon are stronger. I used to wear acrylic tips and worked as a painter, and prepper in the auto body business and had no problems keeping them on.
I'd go with the gel. It has a heavier coating (and it seems like thats what you want.)

With gel nails, can you change the polish color when you go for a fill-in?

I've always gotten acrylic nails, but I'm thinking of trying gel nails. When I get acrylic nails, I may get one color, then when I go back for a fill-in, they can remove the polish and apply a different color. Is this the case with gel nails, also? Will I be able to change polish colors, or convert to french manicure? I've heard before that it can't be done with gel nails unless they remove the gel, but I don't know if that's true or not. With gel nails, can you change the polish color when you go for a fill-in?
Honestly, I don't see the point of getting polish on gel nails. Provided they are true UV gel nails, and not acrylic nails as many cheaper salons will apply and charge you the gel nail price, polish will not adhere as well as it does to acrylic nails. Also, UV gel nails are simply too pretty and when they are done right with high quality products, they have a beautiful high gloss shine. Why cover it up with polish. I don't get it. But, to each their own.

To answer your question, yes, they can change the polish on your nails with no probelm. Gel is not affected by nail polish remover, or acetone. Only acrylic nails are. With gel nails, can you change the polish color when you go for a fill-in?
they most certainly can change your color! what would be the point of getting them if you were always going to have the same color?

Will my hair be fine? Nail polish remover and heat gel in my hair?

I was drying my hair and put heat protective gel in, and after a long time of blow drying my hair it was still all sticky and gel like. I tried to wash it out. That didn't work, so I put just a little bit of non-Acetone nail polish remover on a cotton ball and put it on my the gelled spot. When that didn't work i washed my hair with shampoo and conditioner again, and dried it again. It worked this time and my hair feels VERY smooth where the gel was but I'm still scared something bad is going to happen to my hair. Th rest of my hair seems fine as well...Should I put something on my hair? Like Leave in conditioner???

Does anyone have any advice or just anything!

I'm super scared my hair will be all dried up and gross for the 1st day of school! (which is tomorrow! so please help!!!!!)Will my hair be fine? Nail polish remover and heat gel in my hair?
If it's fine now, then it will most likely be fine tomorrow. But I wouldn't put any more nail polish in your hair! Just think, in a couple years you'll be laughing over this:D

Oh, and have fun at school

Is it easier to apply nail polish to gel nails or acrylic? I noticed the nail polish kind of 'metls' them?

I got an 'at home' gel nail kit the other day. The results were suprisingly good and the nails were as stong and as smooth as when I got them done professionally. Only problem was that the gel that came with the kit was see through and I wanted pale pink nails so when I went to piant them the gel overlay sort of melted and make the polish go a bit gloopy and funny. I was wondering would I have the same problem with acrylic nails or not?Is it easier to apply nail polish to gel nails or acrylic? I noticed the nail polish kind of 'metls' them?
If you were using high quality UV gels, polish would not melt them. My guess is that the lit contained no light gels which are not the same as UV gels. They are much weaker then real UV gels and they don't last long at all. Uv gels need to cured under a UV lamp after each and every layer of gel is applied. No light gels are cyanoacrylate based which is the same active ingredient found in nail glues. This chemical wil break down in water and other solvents which is probably the reason they melted when you applied polish since nail polish contains solvents to help it dry.

You shouldn't have this problem with acrylics as long as they are high quality products which are difficult to get unless you are a licensed professional. There are a few decent brands that are available to the general public such as one that can be bought in Sally Beauty called ASP (Apsire?). I've tried it a couple of times and found it to be fairly good quality. Its expensive but if you want good results, you need good products. The drug store type nail kits are never good quality products no matter if they are 'gel' or acrylic.

Also, high quality product lines of both UV gels and acrylics come in many different colors including various shades of pink. Seriously, avoid using the kits from drug stores and supermarkets if possible. They are a waste of money. You will have to spend more on better products but the end result will be well worth the added expense!

I hope this helps?

  • Gel Nails, can I polish them?

I've had gel nails put on and I love them! My regular nails are brittle, thin, and they tear easily, so these babies are a godsend. My question is: Can I put nail polish on them and then use remover on them?

will the nail polish remover destroy the gels or not?Gel Nails, can I polish them?
I had gel nails for over a year. Yes, you can polish them and use nail polish remover with no problem. Just be careful as far as where you have them done at. I got nail fungus on 4 nails and am still fighting it.Gel Nails, can I polish them?
You can use acetone on Gel nails. They won't react to acetone. That's acrylic nails that soften with acetone.

p.s. for the grils with fungus. I don't knoe if you are treating your fungus but if not treat it with Tea Tree Oil morning and night. Fungus has to grow out so continue treating it until it's gone. You will know it's gone once it doesn't smell any longer and the discoloration is gone.

Sure can and gel nails are the best nails to have right now there isn't anything better on the market. You most certainly can! Polish away and thanks for the points!
there are two different types of polish remover, Cant think of it though, but yeah, the one that says ';for acrylic nails'; you can use. Just dont use the other one.
don't know but u can try it
    yes, you can :)
God I hope so... nothing turns me on more then a women with pretty painted nails, P.S. paint the toes to match!
just dont use remover with acetone and u'll be fine
dont use acetone nail polish but other kinds are ok
yes you can polish them, but use NON acetone nail polish! I love gel nails too, good choice girl :)

If I were to get gel nails (french manicure) could I still put polish on them and take it off with remover....?

Or would the remover mess up the nails? I want to get gel nails but really love changing the color of my nails, anyone have experience with this?If I were to get gel nails (french manicure) could I still put polish on them and take it off with remover....?
i don't think french nails are the best because they almost make you nails rot underneath and u have to pay to get them replaced often. Just stick to nail polish!!!!!If I were to get gel nails (french manicure) could I still put polish on them and take it off with remover....?
Polish remover will not mess up your nails IF they are real UV gel nails and not the discount salon version of 'gel' nails which are acrylic nails with a UV gel topcoat. UV gels are not affected by solvents ( polish remover, acetone, etc) and will not harm them. Acrylic is affected by solvents and yes, they will be damaged depending on how long your nails are exposed to the solvent.

Its very simple to tell if you have real UV gels nails or not. If the tech used ANY liquid and powder on your nails, you have acrylic nails - not gel nails. No matter what the tech calls them, they are acrylic nails. Gel nails are made from gel - as the name implies. Liquid and powder is never used with real gel nails.

So to answer your question: As long as you have real UV gel nails, you can paint them with no harm to your nails whatsoever.
the polish remover would melt your nails .

so either stick to polish, get gel nails without painting them, or get colored gel nails .
The remover will mess up your nails.

You might as well NOT get your nails done or get them done and have them put nails with color on them.
